CodeClan Digital Diversity Group
Join CodeClan for a welcoming evening of conversation about diversity in the digital industry.
Formerly knows as the Digital Womens’ Group, the new Digital Diversity Group (DDG) is open to all.
DDG will hold quarterly events for all to learn and discuss inclusion, diversity and equality.
To increase diversity in the digital industry, we need to first understand the barriers that people are facing, what inclusion is and how to implement it at work. Join CodeClan on Thursday 11th July to meet like minded individuals as we discuss this.
The evening will consist of speakers and a panel Q&A.
This evening will have:
Paul Skovron, from 3In Consulting is an experienced professional with a passion and drive for Inclusion, Diversity & Equality (IDE) and how it influences successful organisations. Some of his many proud IDE achievements include diversity awards nominations; establishing Out In Glasgow, a professional networking group; and being Vice Chair of LEAP Sports Scotland, an LGBT charity. Paul will be discussing his experience and giving advice in promoting equality for all, regardless of the protected characteristics, and encourage an inclusive environment for people in the workplace whilst celebrating diversity of people and culture.
Fraser Smith, a counselling psychology doctoral trainee with a passion and research focus on men’s mental health. Fraser is an international speaker on the topic and a recent speaker at TEDx Glasgow on male identity and men’s mental health. Fraser runs an online platform and psychology business called GetPsyched that develops online content on psychology, therapy and mental health.
We’ll also be hearing from a panel of guest speakers who are challenging stereotypes and discrimination; changing the attitudes of others in the digital industry and then it’s over to you! We’ll delve deeper into the issues raised and stories shared with an open Q&A session.
Drinks and nibbles will be available.
